Production technologies for motorcycle tires

The race in the tire industry continues. This time let’s take a closer look at the innovative technologies used in motorcycle tires.

Continental

One of the specific technologies used by the German company is a splitter. The specifics of this mixture lies in the fact that it is homogeneous. (Competitive companies focus more on the distribution of various mixtures in certain areas of the tire, such as Bi-Compound Michelin and JLT Dunlop technology mentioned below), each of the tire differs only in hardness - mix is harder in the central part, while softer on shoulders. This effect was achieved by controlling the curing temperature during the production process. Application of a MultiGrip results in an increased adhesion, durability and resistance to wear. This technology has been used in tires ContiSportAttack 2 ContiRoadAttack 2 and ContiTrailAttack 2. One of the revolutionary techniques used by Continental is also TractionSkin. Thanks to microroughness of the  tread surface, braking distance is reduced.

Dunlop

Dunlop brand focuses mostly on two main technologies, such as JLB and JLT.

The JLB (ang. Jointless Belt Construction) it involves the use of jointless belt construction of the tire, which offers improved handling, especially at high speeds, reducing distortion and to minimize the risk of excessive heating of the tire.

JLT Technology (ang. Jointless Tread) involves the precise location of the numerous blends on the tire, thus achieving several parameters: stability, abrasion resistance, traction and driving stability at high speeds.

Bridgestone

Bridgestone also improves the mix of its tires. The company has created 3LC and 5LC technologies( 3- and 5-ply rubber mixtures). The first is used in the front tires. Soft and sticky mixture on the shoulders of the tires for maximum grip in corners, even at maximum deflection. While the hard compound in the center of the tread ensures stability during heavy braking, linear handling and high mileage. The same has been achieved in the 5LC technology  used in the rear tires. However, the 5LC technology allows  bold cornering, also in deep deposit.

HTSPC (ang. Super high tensile penetrated cord) is the innovative technology developed by Bridgestone. Five single steel fibers with high tensile and permeability of the MSB cord ensures even and constant tension, so that the tire has sufficient rigidity, flexibility and the vibration is suppressed. Tires using technology HTSPC have better grip on dry and wet roads, better running, less tread wear and lengthening the course.

Metzeler

Flagship technology used by the Metzeler company is the Interact. Using tapes of different stiffness in different areas of the tire succeeded in increasing steering precision, a tire adapts to the style of driving.
While the Metzeler Advanced Winding technology provides damping, the desired stiffness during fast cornering and handling precision in a large deflection.

Michelin

The flagship race tires of Michelin Power One company use several innovative technologies.
The most interesting of these is AST (ang. Asymmetric Technology), which uses a different mix to the left and right sides of the tire depending on the direction of the track (driving under the clockwise or counterclockwise to them). Drivers freely choose a tire according to whether the route turns more to the left or right, thanks to that they guarantee uniform wear of the tread. AST technology is only used in 16.5-inch tires.

NST is also an interesting technology (ang. Near Slick Technology), which makes the Michelin Power One tire type almost slippery. The maximum area of contact patch provides very good grip and allows cornering at an angle of approx. 60 °.

In contrast, SRT (ang. Silica Rain Technology) improves adhesion at low temperatures and on wet ground, while maintaining the stability of the tread.

Pirelli

The company advertises one of its newest tires, Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa, as "the most comprehensive ultasport tire to drive on public roads and on the racetrack." The company focused primarily on the optimal distribution of forces in the zone of the tire footprint. With ICS technology (ang. Ideal Contour Shaping), the tire is stable at an angle and ensures safe exit from the corners. Pirelli proposes personalization of the  tires - in a specially designed place on the side wall you can put your own label.

What to choose?

Number of Innovative Technologies created by the manufacturers of tires can easily make you dizzy.
However, there are several questions that still need to be answered.

Which tire is the best ? Which one to buy ?

Any technology that improves the driving tires and the level of safety of the driver is good - says Robert Uniżycki, Sales Coordinator of motorcycle tires in Oponeo.pl. - Multicomponent blends innovative wrap or equivalent systems for optimal rigidity mean that the tires are more adhesive, more durable and more comfortable - explains the expert. Without a doubt, the tires should be selected for a particular machine and to the specific weather conditions. One must also consider, which driving style do we prefer and which tire parameter is most important for us. Customers are becoming more demanding and aware, so manufacturers can not afford to release to the market duds. - in situations where even a small slip can result in a dangerous accident, there is no room for compromises. The structural solutions used by leading manufacturers of motorcycle tires must give you confidence in all conditions - adds Robert Unizycki. Therefore, drivers can be confident about their safety.
